Summer Travels - The Market at Grelen

Summer is the time for sweet little day trips and adventures.  Somedays the adventure is a hike or a picnic, other days a movie, thrift shopping, or a museum.

We spent a hot summer day picking raspberries at Grelen Gardens in Somerset, Virginia, not far from James Madison's Montpelier.  This lush nursery features a garden shop and farm market with a cafe scheduled to open later this summer. We cooled off with a most delicious grape juice and freshly made doughnuts.  There are bee hives on the premises with Grelen honey and a beautiful Daylily garden.  We were fascinated by the calm and quiet Brown Thrasher bird nested amidst the rows of plants and shrubs ready to spruce up any landscape.  Can't wait to return for lunch . . . and a side trip to Montpelier.
