Independence Day

On July 4th I feel like a kid again, only with a big camera.

Our little hometown parade is my favorite event  The Annual Heritage Day Parade is sponsored by the Fredericksburg Jaycees. Kids decorate their bicycle or scooters, jump in a wagon, or leash the family dog.  Anyone can join in this free-flowing, easy-going promenade.  No complicated registration, no long waits, no competition, just plain and simple fun. Families wave and smile and pose for me to take pictures. They ask if I'll post the pictures anywhere, and here they are . . . the best evidence that we are truly a blessed nation where freedom is worth celebrating.
