An Apple a Day

For our family, the fall season would not be complete without a trip to Jenkins Orchard just outside Sperryville, Virginia for fresh apples.  I don't know if the old adage, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." is true, but apples are naturally sweet and juicy, fat- free, full of fiber, and fun to eat.  Whether you enjoy them freshly picked, made into applesauce, baked as an apple crisp, or dipped in caramel, apples are simply delicious.  The apple orchard was a visual treat.
